POWERFUL INGREDIENTS

Powerful Ingredients Work in Combination

Manyso called health drinks combine a small amount of fruit and largequantities of sugar, caffeine and many other potentially harmfulsubstances… Not Mistica. The only sugar in Mistica is the naturallyoccurring sugar found in the fruits. The total amount of these sugarsis only four grams per 1oz serving.

Inaddition to açai, Mistica contains juice from other healthful fruitsand berries that include a wide array of antioxidants and otherimportant nutrients.

    Acai BerryAçai Berry
  • Acai Berry - açai (Euterpe oleracea) açai is pronounced ah-sigh-ee. açai is native to Brazil. It is a small, round fruit that is produced by a certain species of palm tree. The appearance of the fruit is similar to a grape. The fruit is a dark blue/purple color. However, the fruit contains a large pit and only a small amount of pulp. The pulp and juice are used in beverages and foods. açai contains high amounts of anthocyanins. It also contains healthy fatty acids (oleic acid) and sterols. Plant sterols have been used to maintain cholesterol levels, aid the immune system, and maintain a healthy prostate. In our bodies, free radicals attack our cells thousands of times a day, weakening them and contributing to premature aging in all parts of the body. These dangerous substances are truly a scourge to our health and a force that must be reckoned with. The açai berry can fight the free radical threat with the natural power of antioxidants and anthocyanins. An extremely potent type of antioxidant, anthocyanins are the pigments found in berries, red grapes, and other healthful foods. These compounds offer numerous health benefits, including the ability to enhance the circulatory, immune, and cardiovascular systems. Anthocyanins may also aid the eyes and support night vision. In addition to powerful antioxidants, açai also contains a naturally occurring array of essential fatty acids, amino acids, and plant sterols, which are compounds that resemble cholesterol. Sterols help maintain proper cholesterol levels that are already in the normal range. They are also useful in maintaining a healthy prostate and in aiding the immune system.
  • BlueberryBlueberry
  • Blueberry - Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) Blueberries contain anthocyanins pigments which are responsible for the health benefits associated with blueberries. The USDA Human Nutrition Center ranked blueberries as the number one antioxidant over 40 fruits and vegetables tested. Animal research showed that blueberries may have anti-aging potential for the brain. Other information suggests that blueberries may also help vision and cholesterol levels. Blueberry juice has bacteria-fighting properties that work against urinary tract infections. The juice compounds prevent the bacteria from adhering to the urinary tract wall.
  • CranberryCranberry
  • Cranberry - Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) Cranberry appears to reduce the risk of bacterial urinary tract infections. A study with elderly men and women showed a reduced frequency of bacteria in the urine and reduced signs of infection. Cranberry contains a wide variety of compounds, but proanthocyanidins may be responsible for their beneficial effects on the urinary tract. The proanthocyanidins prevent E. coli and other harmful bacteria from adhering to the walls of the urinary tract. This limits the ability of the bacteria to grow and spread infection. Cranberry fruit contains high amounts of antioxidants, including anthocyanins which give the berries the bright red color. The juice has been shown to increase levels of antioxidants in the blood. Cranberry also has reported antiviral activity and potential anti-carcinogenic function.
  • LyciumLycium
  • Lycium - Lycium (Lycium barbarum) Lycium is also called wolfberry. The Chinese have used wolfberry fruit and bark for hundreds of years. The Chinese have used this herb to strengthen muscles and bone, protect liver function, replenish the vital essence, treat diabetes, prevent aging and improve visual acuity. Disease prevention and prolongation of life may be due to lycium's immune enhancing effects as well as protecting against DNA and cellular damage. Lycium fruits are reported to cause an increase in leukocyte counts, immune cell activity, and nonspecific immunity, and stimulation of tissue development. The polysaccharides, glycoconjugates, flavonoids, and phenolic amides appear to have potent antioxidant properties, in some cases, similar to that of superoxide dismutase (SOD). Some of these antioxidants inhibit LDL peroxidation, while others provide a hepatoprotective effect. Research has shown that lycium berry helped improve immune function, dark adaptation, and vision.
  • Red RaspberryRed Raspberry
  • Red Raspberry - Red Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) Raspberries contain very high levels of ellagic acid.Ellagic acid has been proven to be an effective antimutagen, anticarcinogen and inhibitor of cancer.Like the other fruits mentioned, raspberries are also high in anthocyanins. Research has linked anthocyanin activity to improved vision and circulation, preventing cancer, and slowing the effects of aging especially related to memory and motor-skills.
  • BilberryBilberry
  • Bilberry - Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) British pilots during World War II ate bilberries before night flights to improve their vision. Bilberry is well known for its antioxidant content, including anthocyanins. The antioxidants may be responsible for bilberry's positive effects. In vitro studies have shown that the bilberry extracts prevented LDL cholesterol oxidation and the formation of free radicals. Other benefits to the cardiovascular system have also been studied in animals. An experiment using bilberry anthocyanidins indicated vasoprotective and antiedema effects. Like blueberry and cranberry, the fruits are also reported to inhibit adhesion of E. coli to the bladder.
  • Concord GrapeConcord Grape
  • Concord Grape - Concord grape Purple grapes (Vitis vinifera) contain similar antioxidant pigments that found in red grapes. Purple grape juice has been shown to protect against many factors involved in cardiovascular disease including inhibiting platelet function and reducing LDL oxidation.
  • ElderberryElderberry
  • Elderberry - Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) Elderberry fruit has been used for centuries as a remedy for coughs, colds, and influenza. Elderberry may stimulate the production of cytokines in those with the flu or other immunocompromised conditions. A controlled study showed that patients with influenza receiving elderberry extracts recovered more quickly.
Dietary consumption of anthocyanins improves the overall antioxidant status in the body.Elderberry contains several anthocyanin compounds which enhance cell resistance to the damaging effects of reactive oxygen species.
  • PomegranatePomegranate
  • Pomegranate - Pomegranates contains several types of polyphenols including anthocyanins, tannins, ellagic acid and gallic acid. Pomegranate juice contains more polyphenols than red wine, grape juice, cranberry juice, blueberry juice and orange juice. The total antioxidant activity of pomegranate juice polyphenols was measured three times higher than red wine and green tea. A recent controlled study had patients with heavy plaque buildup drink 8 ounces of pomegranate juice for one year. Over the course of a year those drinking pomegranate juice, as compared to the control group, had a 30% decrease in the thickness of the carotid artery wall, a decrease in systolic blood pressure, and a decrease in low density lipoprotein (LDL cholesterol) oxidation. Pomegranate juice neutralizes free radicals which prevents the LDL cholesterol from being activated into its harmful form, which is deposited in the arteries. These are all factors in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Another study also showed a decrease in blood pressure by reducing the activity of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE).Reducing the ACE activity also reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke. Pomegrante juice consumption is also associated with an enzyme called paraoxonase (PON).Decreased PON activity is associated with increased risk for atherosclerosis and is seen in hypercholesterolemia and diabetes. Human studies have shown an increase in the activity of PON after drinking pomegranate juice.
  • Red GrapeRed Grape
  • Red Grape - Red Grape The typical French diet is often high in fat, but the French have a lower incidence of heart disease. This occurrence is often referred to as the French Paradox. The lower rate of heart disease is in part attributed to the frequent consumption of red wines. However, red grapes do not have to be ingested in wine form for one to reap the health benefits. Red grapes (Vitis vinifera) contain antioxidant pigments called anthocyanins. Red grapes also contain other phenols and flavonoids. One important polyphenolic compound is resveratrol. Resveratrol is used to help protect against cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis (narrowing of the arteries). Resveratrol inhibits platelet aggregation, caused blood vessel dilation and is used to lower cholesterol levels. The phenolic compounds in red grapes have antioxidant properties and inhibit LDL oxidation. Red grapes are used because they tend to produce more oxidation protection than white or blush grape varieties.
